IT Support Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic IT Support Engineer with ambition, technical and planning abilities to join our small dedicated Team. This is an exciting opportunity, for the right candidate to play a key role in the ongoing development of UK ICT Support Services.
Type of Work:
Our Team currently provides support to systems and infrastructure within companies across multiple sectors throughout the UK. A broad IT skill set is required with specific knowledge in the following being essential.
- Windows Server and Desktop environments – Active Directory, Exchange Server and related technology
- Network infrastructure
- Software – Office, Sage Accounts and Payroll, Anti-Virus
- Cloud Services – Office 365
- Virtualisation
- Work with clients to advise and implement IT Solutions.
Responsibilities
Working within the IT support team, you will:
- Ensure your help desk calls are owned and brought to a conclusion
- Be directly involved with continually reviewing and improving the help desk service
- Performance of the help desk and support activities within assigned KPI’s
- Be responsible for meeting specific service level agreements
- Involved with continually improve standard operating procedures, ensure that they are documented and followed by all help desk team members
- Ensure the knowledge management process is consistent to support the transfer of knowledge between team members
- Ensure high standards of customer services are maintained
- Provide technical help desk support as appropriate to all clients
General Requirements
To meet the requirements of the role you will have a HND in Computing or related subject or computing experience in all aspects of service desk operations. You will also have experience in:
- Management and distribution of help desk calls
- Creating and implementing standard operating procedures
- Review and improvement of our help desk service
As a full working IT support team member you will also have:
- Excellent technical troubleshooting skills
- Excellent people management skills
- Willingness to support all areas of the IT services user base as required
- A strong focus on quality
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work well within a small team
- Good organisational skills
- Strong self-motivation
Specific Essential Skills
At least 3 years’ experience working with windows Server and Desktop environments. This should include
- Active Directory and DNS (Administration, Deployment and Security)
- Hyper-V and virtual environments
- Exchange Server on premise and online.
- SQL Server Basic setup and deployment
- Terminal Services
- IIS (Internet Information Services) and certificate management (Just the basics)
Network Setup and Diagnostics
- Be able to plan, deploy and diagnose a network including router, switches and access points.
- Configuration of advanced router/firewalls such as SonicWALL/Cisco etc. So an understanding of routing, access rules, NAT policies and VPN
365 Services
- Exchange Online – Familiar with deployment in cloud only and hybrid solutions
- SharePoint and OneDrive – Basics will be fine
PowerShell or a willingness to learn PowerShell to improve automation of repetitive admin tasks
